Academia
From October 2004, Jacques has deployed tens of servers (for uses such as computational intensive tasks, databases, etc.) and more than 200 Mandriva Linux desktops through the Academia program. Mr. Foury chose Mandriva Academia because it is "compatible" and because "everything is available on the local mirror." Mr Foury is very satisfied and trusts Mandriva for the future.

The Mandriva Linux Academia program is a simple answer to the needs of universities, other educational institutions, and research centres. It takes the form of an economical system for site-wide deployment of Mandriva Linux. The program covers the main Mandriva Linux release distributed for a one year period.
Program contents
The program consists of a local mirror of our main distribution. This allows students easy access to our products. Packages and ISO files are downloadable directly from one of your servers.
Range of products
Academia covers the Powerpack edition of Mandriva Linux, version 10.1, 2005 LE or 2006.0. Powerpack is a Linux system for general use. Designed for office, multimedia and internet use, it's also the ideal environment for development in any language. With more than 3,000 packages, Powerpack covers all but the most specialised needs.

Mandriva offers tutor-led LPI classes, individualised online training and online courses. We offer two types of access: access to classes or access for students.
Student access
The training is accessed online via the Mandriva server. Each student has an account on this server and can connect whenever they need to (from home or from school). The courses available cover OpenOffice.org, Mandriva and GNU/Linux in general.
Access to classes
This program includes the online training system used on http://etraining.mandriva.com. The LMS (Learning Management System) we use is standardised (Aicc/Scorm), which means you can add new courses on your own server with just three clicks.
